Yellow vein disease of potatoes is a serious disease in Colombia (Antioquia, and Nariño) and Ecuador. It is important to acquire full knowledge of the pathogen and its vector, the greenhouse whitefly, Trialeurodes vaporariorum (Westwood) (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae), in order to achieve correct management of the disease. Research conducted at the ICA Experimental Station "La Selva" in Rionegro (Ant.), testing a method to evaluate vector - pathogen relationships allowed to conclude that: There is not trans-ovaric transmission of the pathogen, and there is a semipersistent vector - pathogen relationship. The method tested utilized very young nymphs still able to move. 67.7% of -them arrived at the adult stage.
