New records of ant species (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) for Colombia
Main Article Content
Three species of Myrmicinae ants: Pheidole scalaris, Pheidole synarmata and Pyramica minuscula, and one cryptic species of the subfamily Leptanilloidinae, Leptanilloides biconstricta, are recorded for the first time in Colombia, collected in coffee-growing zones of five departments. The discovery of P. scalaris also constitutes the first record for South America. The material is deposited in the entomological collection of the Marcial Benavides Museum (MEMB) of the National Center for Coffee Research, Cenicafé.
