Some bioassays or toxicity trials are designed to estimate the concentration of a chemical or biological product required to produce a response, in a given percentage of the challenged population. In Entomology, the estimation of the lethal concentration 50% (LC50) permits to find populations of insects susceptible oi resistant to the products used in their control. SEMPLA is a statistical package written in the "turbo pascal" language, to be used in IBM or compatible microcomputers and utilized to estimate the lethal dose 500/o of one or two products and one product with two factors using the probit, logit or angular transformations. It is designed under a modular context. The modules of the system are: help, data entrance, data processing, and results. The implementation of the system allows a rapid, efficient and reliable analysis as well as new possibilities of interpretation.
